How to find your glasses size

Will this frame fit me? Will this frame shape suit me? These are the biggest concerns when trying to buy glasses online. We have compiled all the necessary information to reduce confusion and encourage you - new glasses online is possible! The glasses size guide is also suitable for choosing sunglasses.

The best place to start is with a pair of glasses you already own. Take a closer look at the temples of the glasses. Look for three numbers printed on the inside of the temple. They should look similar to this: 51□19 144

Reading from left to right, these are the following measurements: lens width, bridge width, temple length.

Lens Width
The width of one lens at its widest point. Usually between 40mm and 60mm
Bridge Width
The distance between the two lenses. The bridge is where the frame rests on the nose. Typically between 14mm and 24mm
Temple Length
The length of the temple from the screw to the end, including the curve that goes behind the ear. Temple lengths usually range between 120mm and 150mm
Lens Height
The height of the lens measured at its highest point

In some cases, you may know the frame width

This measurement is not printed on the temples. To find it, use a measuring tape to measure the total width of the frame, including hinges or any design elements that increase frame width.

Converting size from numbers to words

If you know your current glasses measurements in numbers, it is easy to determine the size category. Add the lens width and bridge width. For example, if the measurements are 51□19 144, adding lens width 51 and bridge width 19 gives 70. Looking at the table below, this number corresponds to a Medium (M) size.

Eyeglass size classification
<66 XS
66-68 S
69-71 M
72-74 L
> 74 XL

A frame that is too narrow will make the face appear wider, while a frame that is too wide will narrow the face. This is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing new glasses. Find a frame that is slightly wider than your face – no more than the width of one finger between the temples and the face. Anything wider than that is a sign the frame is too wide.

Choose Glasses Based on Your Face Shape

Glasses should not only correct your vision accurately — they should also look great! Dr.Lensor is always ready to help make your decision easier by sharing useful tips for choosing the right eyeglass or sunglass frames.

Do you know your face shape? Take a look at our specialists’ guidelines to find the best match for your facial features.

Oval Face Shape
If you have an oval face shape, you’re in luck — almost any frame style will suit you. Your facial proportions are well balanced, with softly defined cheekbones and jawline.

Our tip:
Feel free to experiment with round, square, or rectangular frames, including larger styles. We recommend avoiding very narrow frames.

Square Face Shape
A square face shape features a strong jawline, wide cheekbones, and similar face width and length.

Our tip:
Choose round or oval frames to soften sharp facial lines. Frames with a pronounced bridge or an accentuated top rim work especially well.

Round Face Shape
A round face has soft lines with no sharp angles, and the width and length of the face are usually similar.

Our tip:
To create a more elongated and defined look, opt for square or rectangular frames. Avoid very round frames, as they emphasize facial roundness.

Triangular Face Shape
This face shape is characterized by a wider jawline and a narrower forehead.

Our tip:
Choose frames with a more pronounced upper part or thin frames that help balance facial proportions.

Heart-Shaped Face
A heart-shaped face typically features a wider forehead, prominent cheekbones, and a narrow, pointed chin.

Our tip:
Thinner frames that are slightly wider than the forehead work best. You can try round, square, or rectangular frames. Avoid heavy, oversized designs.
